Satellite Beach, Fla. — The fans crowded the Whiskey Street Pub in Satellite Beach Sunday to watch the U.S. Women Soccer team take on the Netherlands for the 2019 World Cup finale.
But they eyes were on one player - Goal Keeper Ashlyn Harris, who grew up in the tiny town East of Orlando.
Her father, Mike Harris, greeted guests as they arrived.
Florida Today reported from the watch party, saying " in a small town of 10,000, it's easy to be a celebrity when you're the father of one of soccer's most recognizable faces, goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris."
Ashlyn, 33, started playing soccer at the age of 5 and won back-to-back Class 3A State Championships at Satellite High School.
At the University of North Carolina, she won three NCAA Women's Soccer Championships.
Since going professional, Ashlyn has played in seven pro leagues ultimately ending up at the top level in America.
Ashlyn’s mom, Tammye, also lives in Brevard County, but she was in France watching the game.
